Tell your story like you are talking to a friend

Speak from your heart and express any emotion that you feel. You can send us a video of yourself telling the story or write it in an email. We can help with that.

Our goal is for Canadians to get to know our military men and women. To understand what a day in your life might feel like.

Stories can open minds, change the way people think, win hearts and connect us all. Our differences fade when we share a story, a laugh, or a tear. The gap between gender, religion, race, as well as the gap between those who serve and those who do not, is bridged when we hear your story.

For those of you who have already donated a story, we thank each and every one of you for sharing. We respect and appreciate your honesty, humility and courage.

We do not produce or publish anything on our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other social media without your personal authorization. It's your story and you get to say how it can be told.

The story that you donate is your personal creation and told from your own perspective. You, the storyteller, are sharing a memory that is linked to the object that you donate. Express any emotion that you wish. The story can be a single sentence or longer, but we recommend that it be less than one page. The title can be simply the name of the object that you donate with the story, or something else you choose to reflect your story. To protect their privacy, the full name or personal information of others cannot be included in your story. Stories cannot be morally offensive or discriminatory.

There are few restrictions on objects that we accept. Some donations are irreplaceable and full of sentimental value. Others are ordinary everyday items. It is a symbol of your story and the choice is completely up to you. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us and we will be happy to discuss them with you. We will not accept or exhibit material that is offensive, suggestive or discriminatory.

Yes. By providing your full name and signing the donation form, you are giving your consent to display, reproduce and publish your donation.

You will be notified by email when we receive your donation.

Once we receive your donation, it is photographed and catalogued as part of our collection. Every story is important to us, and we treasure them all. We choose which exhibits to display in our physical travelling gallery according to how well they travel, size of objects and exhibition space, theme of the exhibition, etc. Exhibits may be displayed on our website, but keep in mind that we rotate the collection, and as it grows, the items shown on our website will change.
